Your Hotel’s Reception May Be at a Different Address

Your booking can have a perfectly accurate accommodation address and still require you to collect the key somewhere else. Annex rooms, serviced apartments and small properties sometimes use a separate reception. Discovering that distinction beside a locked door is an avoidable start to a stay.

Read the arrival instructions for the specific reservation. The address on a map pin may identify the room building, the business office or the main hotel. Do not assume those are interchangeable.

Confirm three locations

  • Where you complete check-in or collect the access device.
  • Where you will actually sleep.
  • Where your transport can stop or where parking is permitted.

Save each location with a clear label. If reception and the room are separate, ask about the route between them, luggage storage and any assistance you need. A short distance on a map may still involve steps, an awkward crossing or a route that is inconvenient with bags.

Confirm reception hours and the procedure if your journey is delayed. “Late arrival available” needs a practical explanation: who receives the update, when instructions are sent and whether a code or identification check is required. Use the contact details supplied through the verified booking channel.

Make the last kilometre understandable

Imagine the driver asks where to leave you. Your answer should name the first place you need to visit, not automatically the room address. Keep an offline copy of the relevant instructions and a telephone number in case mobile data is unavailable.

If an unexpected message asks for payment or sends you to a new website, verify it independently through the property’s established contact route. A plausible arrival message is not proof that a payment request is legitimate.

Before departure, confirm where keys must be returned too. Collection and return can follow different arrangements. A few precise questions turn a vague check-in promise into an arrival plan you can actually use.
