A Privacy Debate in Tennis: Swiatek and Gauff's Call for Change
Are tennis players becoming zoo animals, constantly on display? This is the question that Iga Swiatek, one of the world's top tennis stars, has raised, echoing the sentiments of her fellow player, Coco Gauff.
In a recent interview, Swiatek expressed her support for Gauff's concerns about the lack of privacy at tennis tournaments. The issue came to light after Gauff's post-match frustration, which included racket-smashing, went viral. Gauff highlighted the seemingly limitless access that cameras have, following players from the locker room to the court and everywhere in between.
"It's like we're being watched even when we're, well, doing our business," Swiatek said with a slight apology for the candid comparison. "We're tennis players, not zoo animals. It would be nice to have some personal space and privacy."
