GPRTU Ho Branch 8 Celebrates Excellence: Honoring Dedicated Workers
The GPRTU Ho Branch 8 recently held a special awards ceremony to honor three exceptional workers, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the union. The ceremony, a significant milestone for the branch, celebrated a culture of excellence, safety, and dedication among its members.
Led by Branch Chairman Francis Aba, the event recognized Narh Kwadjo, Prosper Agbavor, and Manfred Addor for their exceptional competence, discipline, and dedication. The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from various transport authorities and the District Chief Executive for Ho West.
Narh Kwadjo, known as Fear God, received the Best Driver award for his over 20 years of driving experience and 7 years of dedicated service with GPRTU Ho Branch 8. He operates two vehicles on the Ho Medina route, maintaining a clean record in 2025 with no accidents or complaints. He was presented with a Nasco freezer and a citation of honor.
Prosper Agbavor was named Best Porter for his commitment and hardworking attitude, while Manfred Addor received the Longest Serving Porter award for his loyalty and years of service to the branch.
The awards ceremony aimed to motivate members to uphold high standards of professionalism and service delivery. Chairman Aba praised the awardees and encouraged unity and peace among members to strengthen the union.
The District Chief Executive for Ho West, Francis Dusey, praised the initiative as an effective way to motivate workers and urged other branches to follow suit. He emphasized the importance of safety, especially during the Christmas season, cautioning against overspeeding and drink driving. He also advised drivers to prioritize rest and life over the pressure to make multiple trips.
Senior Technical Engineer Charles Owusu Boakye reminded drivers to renew their licenses and roadworthiness certificates on time, encouraging direct visits to DVLA offices. He stressed the importance of genuine documentation to avoid challenges, particularly with insurance claims, and emphasized road safety, highlighting the responsibility drivers have to their families and the importance of arriving home safely with passengers intact.
