Diablo 2 Update: The Warlock's Reign Launches as the First DLC in 25 Years
Diablo II fans, rejoice! Blizzard Entertainment is bringing a groundbreaking update to the iconic game, marking the first major DLC in a quarter of a century. Titled 'Reign of the Warlock', this expansion introduces a captivating new character, voiced by the talented Rahul Kohli, known for his roles in 'The Haunting of Bly Manor', 'Midnight Mass', and 'iZombie'.
The Warlock, as described by Blizzard, is a mysterious and powerful entity, "disciplined, ominous, and incredibly knowledgeable, lingering in the shadows for years and studying secrets mortals shouldn’t know."
This DLC is not just a standalone release; it's part of a broader celebration of the 'Diablo' franchise's 30th anniversary. The Warlock will make his debut in the remastered version of Diablo II, 'Diablo II: Resurrected', and will also appear in the upcoming 'Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred' update, set for April, and the mobile game 'Diablo Immortal' later this summer.
The announcement was made during a special showcase, revealing how the Microsoft-owned franchise will commemorate its milestone year. The 'Reign of the Warlock' DLC will be available on Battle.net, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch when it launches on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 'Diablo Immortal's' Warlock-centric update, 'Andariel Rises', is set to debut this summer.
The 'Diablo IV' update, 'Lord of Hatred', is scheduled for April 28th and will be available on Battle.net, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. More details about the Warlock's role in this DLC will be unveiled during a developer update event on March 5th at 11 a.m. PT.
Kohli's involvement in the project came as a surprise. In an interview, he shared, "I received a text message from Rod Fergusson, who said, 'Do you not want to do Diablo?' I was shocked! It was a unique opportunity, and I was thrilled to be part of it."
Kohli's excitement is understandable, given the game's longevity. He added, "I thought it was a typo at first, but then I realized it was new content for a 26-year-old game. I was hyped!"
